Registering in the system as a deposit payer

Complete the deposit payer´s registration application and send it to:

Pledging security

Once the deposit payer is accepted into the system, it must pledge a security under point 6 of the rules. An acceptable security comprises a bank deposit or guarantee. The deposit payer must read the contract carefully and complete all the required points (please note notice/contract to bank).
Two (2) copies of the signed security contract should be submitted to Palpa. Palpa shall return one of the copies, signed, to the deposit payer.

Seeking approval for can markings

All cans included in the system must have markings in machine code as well as in clear-text. The application concerning the product is completed in Palpa's Extranet. The deposit payer must deliver the layout of the can as well as the EAN code to PALPA for approval. The deposit payer must deliver two (2) sample cans to Palpa. The deposit payer will be notified when the markings are approved.

Testing cans in reverse vending machines

Send each machine manufacturer six (6) sample cans. The test will confirm that the reverse vending machine is able to identify the cans EAN code. The product is approved after it has been tested in the reverse vending machine. The deposit payer will be notified when the product is finally approved for inclusion in the system.

Updating reverse vending machines

PALPA updates the reverse vending machines twice a month.

Costs relating to the system

When the importers and the breweries join the system they are subject to:

a joining fee or alternatively an annual membership fee x5
a bar code fee on each new product that is accepted into the system
a deposit fee and a recycling fee on each can sold
