Beverage cans
Beverage cans were released to the Finnish market in 1996. The returning rate is circa 90 %, which is top class internationally. The size in most deposit-based beverage cans is usually 0,33 l or 0,5 l but there are other sizes as well. The deposit value is always 0,15 € in spite of the size of a can.
Returned aluminium cans will be melted and the material will be used for new beverage cans.
Recyclable plastic bottles
Recyclable plastic bottles were released to the Finnish market in 2008. The goal is to reach as high returning rate as the other deposit-based beverage containers have.
The deposit value of recyclable plastic bottle is 0,10 €, 0,20 € or 0,40 €, depending on the bottle size.
Recyclable plastic bottles are not reused as they are but the plastic is recycled.
16.2.2009 recyclable plastic wine bottles (1 white and 1 red) were released to the market.
