RETURNING IN PRACTICE
Palpa’s deposit beverage packages can be returned by non-Retail operations as manual returns.
Cans / plastic bottles are returned in manual bag (red print) and glass bottles in a glass container (240 L). A Palpa sticker must be attached to each transportation unit.
SORTING OF BEVERAGE PACKAGES
There are specific instructions for sorting the beverage packages. It is important to follow the instructions so that the recycled materials are as clean as possible and that their reuse value is as high as possible.
The purity of returns is monitored at processing plants during the unloading of the transportation units. If a return is made in violation of instructions Palpa has the right to sanction the return location. The beverage supplier has the right to refuse to pick up a transport unit that is not packed according to Palpa´s instruction.
Did you know that even one porcelain coffee cup thrown in a glass collection point ruins the reuse possibilities of the entire batch?
REFILLABLE GLASS BOTTLES
The return instructions (only in Finnish) for refillable glass bottles (e.g. the traditional brown beer bottles) can be found here.
NB! Refillable glass bottles must not be returned to Palpa.
The returns are mainly transported as round trip transports, excluding emptying service of glass bottles. The beverage supplier picks up the transportation units in connection with a beverage delivery. The driver of the beverage supplier reads the barcodes and delivers the transportation units to processing plants.
The contents of manual bags are counted before baling and glass containers are emptied on the platforms, waiting for the transfer to the reprocessor.
The following equipment is required for Palpa’s returns:
Palpa sends the first batch of stickers to the return location after the registration application has been approved. More stickers can be ordered on Palpa Extranet or via e-mail: email@example.com.
NB! Palpa sends the stickers via post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
