ALUMINIUM CANS
Aluminium cans are an excellent recycling material. In practice, 100% of the collected materials can be directly used to manufacture new cans, and the recycling can be repeated almost indefinitely. The manufacturing of new cans from recycled aluminium only requires approximately 5% of the energy consumed in manufacturing new cans.
Empty cans are transported from the return point to the processing plant where they are pressed into large bales.
The bales are taken to an aluminium smelting plant where the aluminium is smelted into blocks.
The aluminium blocks are compressed into thin sheets that are used to manufacture new cans.

PLASTIC BOTTLES
The plastic bottles collected through reverse vending machines are PET plastic and they can be efficiently recycled. The recycled materials are used to manufacture new bottles and other packaging materials, among other things.
Empty bottles are transported from the return point to the processing plant where they are pressed into large bales.
The reprocessor mills the bottles and sorts them by colour for reuse.
The recycled plastic is used to manufacture new bottles, packaging materials and textiles, among other things.

RECYCLABLE GLASS BOTTLES
Glass can be recycled almost indefinitely. Each tonne of glass made from recycled glass consumes about 30% less energy than manufacturing it from new raw materials. The recycled glass obtained from deposit bottles is very clean – in addition to glass, porcelain is often thrown in glass collection containers, which weakens the quality of crushed glass.
Empty bottles are delivered to the waste treatment plant where they are crushed, cleaned and sorted for recycling according to the colour of the glass.
Recycled glass is used to produce new glass bottles, other glass packages, glass wool and cellular glass.

REFILLABLE GLASS BOTTLES
The return system for refillable glass bottles was created as early as in the 1950s. Refillable bottles are mostly traditional brown beer bottles. Each bottle is reused an average of 33 times, after which the material is utilised as recycled glass.
Empty bottles are transported from the return point to the manufacturer of beverages where the bottles are washed and rinsed.
Next, the bottles are refilled and relabeled.
