Recycling fees 2024

Palpa recycling fees 2024

The can recycling fee increases from €0.00525 -> €0.00971. The increase is due to the decrease in the world market price of aluminum, which causes a significant decrease in sales revenue of the material.

Plastic bottle recycling fees will increase in all recycling fee categories. The increase is due to the drop in the world market price of recycled plastic, which causes a significant decrease in sales revenue of the material.

Glass bottle recycling fees will increase in all recycling fee categories. This is caused by an increase in the costs of transportation and plant processing (fuel, wages, energy, interest).

Instructions for return locations

01.06.2023

Return instructions for returns without reverse vending machine

Cans / plastic bottles

Sort cans and plastic bottles separately.

Return all cans, also non-deposit.

Return only plastic bottles with Palpa´s deposit marking.

NOTE! Non-deposit plastic bottles must not be sorted into deposit material, as the recyclability of the material cannot be guaranteed. Due to the recycling of plastic, different types of plastic must not be mixed. In addition, the wrong materials in the packaging can prevent recycling.

Non-deposit plastic bottles can be recycled by returning them to a plastic collection point or as an energy fraction.

Return in a manual bag

Return cand and plastic bottles only in a manual bag (red print).

Close the bag tightly with a tie band and attach Palpa sticker to the tie.

NOTE! The bag must not be overfilled.

Glass bottles

Sort beverage bottles of glass as intact and empty to a glass container.

Note! It is not allowed to put refillable glass bottles to Palpa's glass container. Return them in a crate or on plastic tray to Hartwall.

Impurities prevent recycling

Returns must not contain rubbish or other impurities as they will prevent recycling.

If the return is made in violation of the instructions, Palpa is entitled to sanction the return location for noncompliance with the instructions. The beverage supplier has the right to refuse to accept packaged transport units in violation of the instructions.

Remember to follow Palpa's sorting and return instructions in all returns.

Sales reporting, estimate billing, product disposals

06.02.2023

Sales reporting

At Palpa, we have noticed that there is an increasing amount of ambiguities in the reporting of deposit products. As a reminder, we go through the general instructions related to reporting.

  • The member company must report all products that may end up in reverse vending machines or Palpa glass bins. The reporting obligation also applies to product samples, donations or products taken into internal use.
  • The member company must ensure that the sales of the products are reported to Palpa, even if there are several companies in the supply chain. Reporting responsibility must be clearly agreed upon between the parties.
  • Retail corporations and wholesalers must make sure that sales of the new deposit products are reported to Palpa.
  • The member company must ensure that sales are reported to the correct barcode when the code changes (e.g. vintage products).

Estimate billing

  • If the member company does not take care of the reporting by the deadline, Palpa sends the company an estimate invoice. A service fee is added to the invoice. The estimate invoice must be corrected to reflect the actual sales of that month at the beginning of the following month.

Disposal of products

  • Disposal means disposing of both the contents of the package and the package in such a way that the package can no longer be returned to the machine and a deposit can be obtained. Disposed glass bottles may not be returned in Palpa's glass bins.
  • The label materials must be disposed of in such a way that they do not end up being misused.
  • The member company must provide Palpa with a certificate of disposal issued by the operator who did the disposal. The certificate of disposal must show the barcode of the product, the product name and the number of disposed packages.
  • Waste generated during production (packaging and label material) must be stored in a locked, supervised space before disposal to prevent misuse.
  • If the packaging of disposed products ends up to the reverse vending machines or Palpa's glass bins, the number of products must be reported to Palpa. Palpa pays the returner a deposit for the deposited packaging returned to the machine.
